The Speech and Language assessment covers auditory, visual and cognitive functions. It is based on standardized tests.
It covers:
- Verbal and non-verbal language: reading, writing, fluency, non-verbal communication
- Cognitive communication and verbal comprehension
- Swallowing functions
- Voice
- Cognitive functions: visual and auditory attention, executive functions, visual and auditory memory and working memory
- What It Assesses: This assessment examines a child’s ability to understand and use language, including speech clarity, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and social communication skills.
- Importance: Speech and language assessments are critical for identifying speech delays, language disorders, or difficulties with social communication. Addressing these areas early supports the development of essential communication skills and academic skills and respectively enables better interaction with peers/teachers and proper development of written language skills (literacy) as it is directly linked to oral language acquisition.
